Show Description

You begin to stir from a quiet sleep. You hear a distant ambient noise and feel sand underneath you. The air is salty and your lips are parched. Suddenly, your eyes open and you realize you are laying on a beach, all alone on a deserted island! This show offers opportunities for color theming, with bright blues representing water and contrasting tans and browns representing sand. Props for this production could include an island, palm trees, or even a shipwreck. This show's music begins quiet and lyrical to represent the calm shores of a deserted island, but Scythian Suite quickly wakes us up to evoke the chaos of being lost in the middle of the ocean. The next movement of the show utilizes the rhymic theme of SOS in morse code, and illustrates someone trying to survive and make the best of their difficult situation. Next, we used the end credits from Cast Away for a ballad, lending an introspective pause to the show and allowing audiences to think about the lonliness of not being able to contact the outside world. The show wraps up with beautiful and exciting melodies from Stephen Melillo’s After The Storm as we get rescued from the deserted island! The whole show is glued together with melodies from U2’s “With or Without You” because if you are ever lost in the world, you will spend time thinking about your loved ones and how much you love them. The show ends with the lyric, “I can’t live without you”, as we return home from our adventure.
