The Circle
The Circle
A circle has no beginning and no end. It's the most common shape in nature and is a symbol with many meanings. When designing this show, we explored those many meanings and how they could translate to a highly engaging marching band show. This show includes circular-themed source music such as “The Circle of Life” and “What Goes Around”. We also included opportunities for creative moments such as a drum circle, and amplified soloists that use delay and reverb to create a circular soundscape. On a deeper level, the beginning of the show portrays unity with all performers participating in a call and response drum circle. The second movement of the show brings chaos and disorder as our unified circles get torn apart. The third part of the show gives us a chance to reflect on our division, and realize that we are better together than apart. The show finishes with an all-out party, celebrating what we can do when we come together. Visual possibilities like circular props, stages, and guard implements can be utilized to bring The Circle to life!
