There Is A Place
There Is A Place
There is a place where the sidewalk ends and before the street begins. And there the moon-bird rests from his flight to cool in the peppermint wind. Many of us grew up reading this beloved poem, and now you have the chance to bring it to life on the field. On a conceptual level, this show is about growing up and discovering differences between the adult world and the mind of a child. The show opens with Lukas Graham’s “7 years old” to take us to the simpler times of childhood. Original music in the second movement takes us into the chaotic world of adulthood, and the closer “What a Wonderful World” allows us to finish the show on an introspective note as we realize that even though this world is complicated and ugly at times, it is still a beautiful place to be. Sidewalk props or printed surfaces like tarps or panels may offer opportunites to add levels and dimension to the field. With novel yet recognizable music, the nostalgia evoked by this show can be impactful and meaningful to your students and audiences alike.
